The Acting Chief Administrator of Abyei Special Administrative Area and Deputy, Hon. Deng Arop Mading, on Friday chaired the 12th Extraordinary Area Executive Council meeting for the year 2024 at the General Secretariat in Abyei.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, Hon. Bulis Koch Aguar stated that; the meeting deliberated on a number of issues related to the health of the general population in Abyei, in particular, ways of containing the recent outbreak of hepatitis E in the Area. In this regard, the meeting directed the Area’ Crisis Management Committee and the Health Ministry to work hand in hand with the Health partners and United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), in order to raise more public awareness on the danger of hepatitis E and finding ways of containing the outbreak of the disease in the Area.
The Minister further told the Press that; the confirmed cases of hepatitis E in Abyei stands at fifty eight (58) cases with no death related cases reported.
Additionally, Hon. Bulis Koch, the Minister of Information stated; the meeting also deliberated on the recent reports of the Universal outbreak of M-Pox, and after thorough checks, it was revealed that Abyei Special Administrative Area remains free of M-Pox disease.
The cabinet also discussed the movement of illegal immigrants in the Area and the Abyei Ministry of Local government and Law Enforcement Agencies was directed to address the issue of the movement of illegal immigrants with the concerned Authorities.
