CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR PAID AN OFFICIAL VISITATION TO THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF NATIONAL PRISON SERVICE IN JUBA
Yesterday,16th July 2025, His Excellency Justice Charles Abyei Jok, the Chief Administrator of the Abyei Special Administrative Area, convened with 1st Lt. Gen. Henry Kuany Aguar, the Director General of the National Prison Service of South Sudan.
The dialogue focused on the overarching security landscape in the Abyei Area, particularly addressing the myriad challenges confronting the prison administration “Directorate of Prison” in the area, and deliberated on viable pathways to surmount these impediments. This discussion was rendered particularly pressing due to the pronounced influx of returnees and refugees from the Republic of Sudan, a consequence of the ongoing civil strife that erupted on April 15th, 2023.
Subsequently, 1st Lt. Gen. Henry Kuany committed to ameliorating all issues confronting the Prison Service in the Abyei area. Furthermore, the Director General graciously accepted an official invitation to visit the area after the rainy season.
The meeting was also attended by Hon. Ajak Deng Miyen, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning for the area; Gen. Achuny Dau Abyei, the Director General of the Prison Service in Abyei Area; Justice Tong Dut, the Legal Advisor to the National Prison Service; and Deng Aken, the Executive Director of the National Prison Service’s Directorate General.
